Vending Machines on College Campuses

October 20, 2017

While college vending machines are often associated with sugary drinks and junk food, a few colleges have taken creative liberties with the vending machines of old to make students’ lives easier.

For instance, UCLA and UC Davis introduced testing-material vending machines on campus this past spring. Students at these two campuses can now access these machines, which are placed in high-traffic areas around campus, for blue books, highlighters and pencils.

Students are no longer at the mercy of the campus bookstore if they forget a scantron five minutes before their next final.

Elsewhere, Harvard University students have used vending machines for essentials like toiletries, phone chargers and more.

Aside from testing materials and personal care vending machines, IVM sees an opportunity for campus maintenance safety supplies, or IT peripherals for students and faculty. The introduction of these vending solutions would help streamline processes for users, while curbing costs for school administrators.

It just goes to show you that when it comes to vending applications, the possibilities are limitless.
